  • What is acupuncture?
Acupuncture is one of the oldest systems of medicine established in China. Illness and injury is viewed as an imbalance in the body. Treatment involves inserting extremely fine needles into specific points in the body to restore any imbalance and allow the body to access its own incredible capacity to heal. Acupuncture views the body holistically in a way that treats the whole person, incorporating the physical and mental body. Treatments are therefore unique to each individual and can be safely considered for a wide range of health issues.
  • Is acupuncture safe?
Acupuncture is safe but it must be administered by a qualified professional who has completed an approved recognised course of training and is licensed to treat. Kerrie attained her Professional Licentiate to practice Acupuncture after completing a degree course at the International College of Oriental Medicine (ICOM); she is also a fully certified member of the British Acupuncture Council.
  • What is the difference between acupuncture & facial acupuncture?
Facial Enhancement Acupuncture (FEA) is considered to be a natural cosmetic treatment generally focused on the face and is a safe alternative to medical and surgical procedures to help combat the signs of aging. Acupuncture seeks to address health issues by restoring the natural balance within the body.
  • Does acupuncture hurt
Acupuncture needles are much finer than a needle used to take blood, for example, and often there is no feeling upon insertion. A mild tingle or dull ache can be felt which is an indication of Qi being affected. Many people feel deeply relaxed during their treatment. Qi can be loosely translated as ‘vital energy’.
  • Are there any side effects from acupuncture?
A small bruise at the needle insertion may appear but this is rare and harmless.
  • How long does a treatment last?
ACUPUNCTURE / ELECTRO ACUPUNCTURE TREATMENTS The initial consultation/treatment is 90 minutes as this involves taking details of historic/current status of health, as well as details of the presenting complaint(s). This enables the practitioner to make a comprehensive diagnosis and treatment plan. Subsequent follow up sessions will be approx 50 minutes with a needle retention time generally between 20-30 mins each session. FACIAL ACUPUNCTURE Facial Acupuncture sessions are 90 minutes.
  • How many treatments will I need?
The number of treatments needed depends on the individual and the condition presented. However, normally treatments will be more frequent in the beginning (weekly) and then reduce as your body responds to treatment. Chronic or long-standing conditions may take time to improve whereas an acute problem may respond much more quickly.
  • How should I prepare for my appointment and what should I wear?
It is advisable to eat a light snack or meal, allowing time for digestion prior to appointment. Loose clothing is advised to allow easy access to arms, lower legs, back or abdomen. The clinic has a private area should you need to change.
  • Is parking available at the clinic?
Free on street parking is available outside the clinic.
